By Alan Fraser **LAST UPDATED 11.03.2020** The Heston West Big Local Partnership Board met on 10th March to consider their response to the Coronavirus also known as Covid -19. The Board agreed that they would follow government and Public Health England guidelines. Therefore it is business as usual and we will continue to plan and run all the amazing activities and events that support our community. We will continue to monitor the situation and act on any further guidance and measures from Public Health England and the government. The Board would like to ask you for your support at this time. We are aware of some ‘fake news’ that is circulating in our community for example you can catch Covid-19 from eating chicken. This is not true and has no basis in medical or scientific fact. Indeed some of this ‘fake news’ may put you at greater risk by giving a false sense of protection. Please only pay attention to information and advice from reliable sources such as the BBC or now the HWBL website. If you receive a message from family and friends which is not from a reliable source please ignore it and certainly do not forward it or act on it. It is not desirable to create a sense of worry and panic in our community. The Board was very clear that we will continue to offer hope and support to our community. At the moment we are still in the containment phase with key messages of catch it, bin it, kill it and frequently washing hands with soap and water . Any change in advice from Public Health England and the government will be met with a proportional rationale response from HWBL. By Taz Virdee We need your voice! We are currently in the process of setting up a new charity (CIO) to help extend the work we are doing in the local community to other nearby neighbourhoods including Heston, Cranford, Southall, Hounslow West, Hatton, Stanwell, Heathrow, Hayes and West Drayton. We are consulting with the local community to find out what our new charitable objectives should be and also the name of our new organisation which will manage Heston West Big Local in the near future.
If you could kindly spare 1 to 2 minutes to answer a few questions please click here. The deadline to complete the survey is next Tuesday 17th March. Thank you for your support. Any questions please do get in touch. By Taz Virdee Despite the current climate we had over 40 volunteers attend our Big Local and Heston Action Group Community Clean Up on Sunday 8th March 2020. We tackled the Brabazon Estate and Henlys Alley despite the showering hailstones. Great work from everyone & excellent teamwork. Big thanks to all the amazing volunteers for your support. Also thank you to our Family Healthy Cooking Club participants with Manju Malhi for making some scrumptious lunch for our brave volunteers. We would also like to thank our Mayor of Hounslow Tony Louki and our local ward councillor and Deputy Leader of the Council Lily Bath for their support. In addition, we'd like to thank Igor and his team at Leecliffe Big Local and Rachel at CPP Hounslow for coming along and showing great community spirit. Finally, we would also like to thank all our incredible Big Local volunteers and Heston Action Group but not forgetting Hounslow Highways for providing the equipment and picking up the bags. Bringing it all together!
