Volunteering Opportunities

The Heston West Big Local are looking for local people to get involved in supporting local projects. There are a number of opportunities available and you can contribute as little or as much time as you like. 

There are many benefits to volunteering, you can learn new skills, gain valuable experience and meet new people.  If you feel that you can offer something back to the local community why not get involved?

Volunteer Roles

Event Volunteer

We are looking for local people to help support local community events.  So far we have held events at Christmas and Diwali and a weekly programme of activities.

You would help set up on the day, help promote sessions, ensure things run smoothly and some basic administration.

Event Photographer

Do you have a keen interest in photography?  We are looking for a local person to take pictures at all of our exciting activities and events. 

Photos will be used to promote the project and help demonstrate the impact it is making in the local area.
Youth Action Team Member
The Big Local Youth Action Team (10-18yrs) work variety of exciting projects from organising events, community activities, making films or campaigning on the issues important to themselves and our local community.

HWBL Board Member

We are looking to recruit board members living on the Brabazon, Redwood and Harlech Gardens estate to help shape our strategy and steer our Big Local project

If you feel that you can spare some time to attend our board meetings (once every 4-5 weeks) please get in touch.

Newsletter & Social Media 

Do you have IT skills that you think can helpful?  We are looking for a volunteer to help maintain and contribute toward our website, Facebook pages and Twitter feed.

Activity Support Volunteer
​We are looking for local people to help support local community activities from our Sewing, Yoga, Multi-Sports, Youth Filmmaking and our Youth Action Team. Training and support is provided. All volunteers will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check. 

Have you volunteered for over 100 hours for the Big Local? 

We have partnered up with ValueYou. ValueYou is a charity that offers a volunteer recognition scheme for people who dedicate time volunteering in their community. They believe that communities should find ways to say thank you to people who help out.

ValueYou partners with local independent businesses who want to give by offering a discount and gifts to volunteers. Membership is free of charge, and their work helps to encourage people to shop locally and support small businesses.

If you’re not sure how many hours you have volunteered for then please also contact Taz.
