Brian Clark Young Community Leader of the Year 2019 Award
It is a common refrain from community groups that they find it hard to engage young people in their work. It is an equally common refrain from young people that their voices aren’t heard enough as adults make decisions about their neighbourhood. When this divide can be bridged and young people are able to take a lead great things can happen.
We want to showcase the work of these young leaders – young people (below the age of 18) who act as role models for their peers and have inspired or driven change in their area. They may have initiated projects with and for other young people or been particularly effective at bringing different generations together. They may have contributed new skills to your group or benefited from a personal journey of their own in terms of confidence and career development.

Brian Clark - Our Community Hero
Brian Clark was the only original Heston West Big Local member who was still active on the board and was a stalwart of the community. He was a governor at both Berkeley Academy and Cranford Community College and an active member of Brabazon Estate and Heston Residents Associations. Brian was passionate about the community he served and without his drive and determination Heston West Big Local may well never have got off the ground. Brian sadly passed way in March 2017. |

Entering the awards is very simple. The nominated individual must have completed more than 50 hours of volunteering for the Heston West Big Local in the past 12 months (volunteer hours also include Big Local activities, workshops and events you or the nominated individual have been involved with).
