By Serena Lola Today people of all ages and abilities came together to design a community mural fro the Brabazon centre in Heston West and it was the first meeting before next week where we will get to work painting. First off it was a great turn out of around 20 people and the leader of all of this was Anita from Certitude and she aimed to get lots of people involved and for this to really be a community thing. Even NCS were involved and did fundraising before for the supplies needed to create something beautiful for the community. The day began with brainstorming and throwing out ideas for the mural and there were a range of things such as: something to do with nature or the Brabazon plane, we learnt quite a lot about the history of the place from one of our elder members who taught us quite a lot about the past of Heston. It was great to see everyone come together. We were even joined by our MP Seema Malhotra who also wanted to see how we contribute to making our community great, she even got involved in helping design some ideas. After each group had designed a mural the best part of the day came, food! Because everyone loves food especially pizza and this gave us a chance to really get to know everyone and socialize. After each group presented their ideas and we found that a lot were quite similar and combined them to create one amazing ides for the mural which included all the bits we liked and with our idea set we headed home ready for the next week where we would get stuck in with painting the mural. Here's the finished (below) mural thanks to CPP Hounslow, NCS The Challenge and Certitude's support.
