Some good news! Hounslow Council are planning estate improvement works on Redwood Estate, Norman Crescent, Harlech Gardens and Archer Court & George Chatt House with works starting in Spring 2021. Hounslow Council commissioned Groundwork London to carry out community engagement and landscape designs for the programme and they are delighted to now share the updated designs based on resident’s comments and feedback they received in January 2021.
They want to make sure that these proposals for green space improvements meet the needs of the local community, building greener neighbourhoods for everyone to enjoy.

The Community Partnerships Unit within Hounslow Council has been in the process of creating a food action plan. As the pandemic has highlighted the issues of food poverty in the borough, the council are creating a plan for the future to tackle these issues.
Their steering group has helped the council to identify five pillars of their action plan. Hounslow Council have decided to put on a workshop for each pillar. The aim of these will be to discuss the main issues and understand the current situation from those directly involved in these areas, and to come up with solutions and actions the council want to take to try and tackle to problems.
The five pillars are:
Tackling food waste
Access to healthy affordable food (this will include food growing, access to markets, healthy food etc)
Supporting older and vulnerable adults
Addressing health issues (diabetes, obesity)

A few days before Christmas we delivered festive hampers to 50 families in our local community. We focused on families and residents whom previously received our Covid-19 essential food parcels during the first lockdown and a few volunteers.
The Christmas hampers were kindly donated by Sapna Dhall and Mimi's Coffee and Dessert Lounge in Hounslow. We also prepared our own hampers supported by chef and author Manju Malhi.
Do you live, work, volunteer or study in the Heston West Big Local area? Would you like to win a Christmas meal with all the works for your family? The meal is cooked by TV chef and author Manju Malhi. If yes, please click here and we will be in touch if you are the winner.
One entry per household only. Terms and conditions apply.
Closing date is Sunday 13th December at 12pm.
Hounslow's Director of Public Health, Kelly O'Neill talks about the latest COVID-19 figures, the new Tier 2 restrictions and appeals to residents to play their part in taking personal responsibility for protecting their community.
