By Devinder Ramdeva Hi I’m Devinder and I have been a volunteer with Heston West Big Local since October 2021. I was given the opportunity to be part of the Youth Film Club, being involved has given me the chance to grow and to become confident behind and in front of the camera. I feel the Film Club is a fun space to be in where creative minds can come together to create something unique. At the Film Club, we work as a team to create and develop ideas for short films and documentaries focused on specific issues, which we then upload to YouTube. The most recent project we worked on was the Batman film which was exciting to be involved with.
We need your support this Saturday from 10.30 to 1pm at the Go Hounslow Event held at Cranford Community College. We have applied for TWO community projects: Family Boxing and Bingo Over 60s. If you can attend, please do, more the merrier too. We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday On Sunday 5th June 2022 we held our Big Local and Summer of Culture Queen Platinum Jubilee Event at the Brabazon Community Centre. In partnership with Creative Spaces London (CSL) and Bantu Arts, we had over 130 residents join in on the celebrations. Bantu Arts were amazing delivering drumming masterclasses and live performances.
CSL inspired the community to create Jubilee-themed art and accessories. Our Big Local Youth Film Club participants captured the event, interviewing attendees including the London Borough of Hounslow’s newly elected leader and Heston West ward councillor Shantanu Rajawat. Overall, the event was a big success, drawing in residents from across the local area. A big thanks to all our incredible Heston West Big Local volunteers for organising and supporting the event and our community partners and friends. Thanks also to the London Borough of Hounslow for their amazing support in funding the event through their Summer of Culture and Thriving Communities grants.
