Hounslow Council are planning estate improvement works on Redwood Estate, Norman Crescent, Harlech Gardens and Archer Court & George Chatt House with works starting in Spring 2021. Hounslow Council commissioned Groundwork London to carry out community engagement and landscape designs for the programme and they are delighted to now share the updated designs based on resident’s comments and feedback they received in January 2021.
They want to make sure that these proposals for green space improvements meet the needs of the local community, building greener neighbourhoods for everyone to enjoy. Read more about the discussion and report by clicking here. The Community Partnerships Unit within Hounslow Council has been in the process of creating a food action plan. As the pandemic has highlighted the issues of food poverty in the borough, the council are creating a plan for the future to tackle these issues.
Their steering group has helped the council to identify five pillars of their action plan. Hounslow Council have decided to put on a workshop for each pillar. The aim of these will be to discuss the main issues and understand the current situation from those directly involved in these areas, and to come up with solutions and actions the council want to take to try and tackle to problems. The five pillars are: Food Insecurity Tackling food waste Access to healthy affordable food (this will include food growing, access to markets, healthy food etc) Supporting older and vulnerable adults Addressing health issues (diabetes, obesity) Hounslow Council have set up an event for each workshop.
