Flash back! Big Local and Heston Action Group's Spring Community Clean Up with the Mayor of Hounslow30/4/2020 By MADE in HESTON WEST Before the lockdown, we had over 40 volunteers attend our Big Local and Heston Action Group Community Clean Up on Sunday 8th March 2020. We tackled the Brabazon Estate and Henlys Alley despite the showering hailstones. Great work from everyone and excellent teamwork. Big thanks to all the amazing volunteers for your support. Also thank you to our Family Healthy Cooking Club participants with Manju Malhi for making some scrumptious lunch for our brave volunteers.
We would also like to thank our Mayor of Hounslow Tony Louki and our local ward councillor and Deputy Leader of the Council Lily Bath for their support. In addition, we'd like to thank Igor and his team at Leecliffe Big Local and Rachel at CPP Hounslow for coming along and showing great community spirit. Finally, we would also like to thank all our incredible Big Local volunteers and Heston Action Group but not forgetting Hounslow Highways for providing the equipment and picking up the bags.

By Alan Fraser Heston West Big Local and Cranford Community College have teamed up to support the most vulnerable households in the Cranford and Heston area. The initial idea was to set up a pop-up foodbank to deliver to those in need using Cranford Community College’s wholesale catering company, Chartwell, as the main supplier. The initiative has since been supported by Morrisons, Honeycomb pub, Seema Malhotra MP and local councillors. Over the past two weeks a team of over 20 volunteers, of all ages, have delivered 124 food parcels, each of a value of between £40 - £50 to households in the community. This has helped to put much needed food on the table for over 200 residents. We intend to continue providing this service until the current coronavirus outbreak is over, and welcome donations.

By Alan Fraser and Serena Lola Due to the ongoing Covid-19 emergency, the Heston and Cranford community have come together to help feed the vulnerable in our community. The initiative is being supported by our partners Berkeley Academy, Heston Royal British Legion, Heston Action Group, Chartwells and Seema Malhotra MP Fetham and Heston.
We have been able to secure the supply of food from Chartwells but we need money to buy the food. Each household is receiving a pack of food to the value of between £40 and £50. £50 will provide a basic food pack including items like rice, pasta, tinned tomatoes, tuna, corned beef, beans, uht milk, bread, cereal, tinned fruit, eggs and toilet roll, for a week. There are many things to worry about at this difficult time so let’s try and make food something that people do not need to worry about. Please support this initiative with your kind donations and help the most vulnerable in our community. Please click here to show your support and to donate. RECENT UPDATE: Tuesday 31st March : The first food deliveries rolled out to 42 household. Next week we want to increase this to 100 with your kind donation. |
