The Community Partnerships Unit within Hounslow Council has been in the process of creating a food action plan. As the pandemic has highlighted the issues of food poverty in the borough, the council are creating a plan for the future to tackle these issues.
Their steering group has helped the council to identify five pillars of their action plan. Hounslow Council have decided to put on a workshop for each pillar. The aim of these will be to discuss the main issues and understand the current situation from those directly involved in these areas, and to come up with solutions and actions the council want to take to try and tackle to problems. The five pillars are: Food Insecurity Tackling food waste Access to healthy affordable food (this will include food growing, access to markets, healthy food etc) Supporting older and vulnerable adults Addressing health issues (diabetes, obesity) Hounslow Council have set up an event for each workshop.
