Our first ever Big Local Chair and local ward councillor Rajinder Bath sadly passes away

It is with great sadness to announce our dear friend, former Heston West Big Local chair and Heston West ward councillor Rajinder Bath passed away on Sunday 2nd June 2018. Rajinder had represented Heston West as a Councillor since 1990 and during his time held several key and senior positions in the Council. Rajinder was Mayor of Hounslow in 1998 and during his time with the council, he worked tirelessly for the elderly, disabled and most vulnerable residents in our community.

He was prominent in helping renew and replace aged play equipment on the Redwood Estate. In addition, he helped reduce and prevent fly tipping on the Brabazon Estate and approved to build a new health centre in our area. Rajinder also worked with developers and the council to approve the first new public park in London for a generation at Rectory Farm and successful lobbied the ward police team to increase visibility around Heston West. 

Cllr Rajinder Bath spoke to our young volunteers about his story and about local politics  during our Political Summer School in 2018.

Rajinder was also our first Heston West Big Local Chair representing and leading us from 2014-15. Current Chair Alan Fraser said: "Rajinder Bath was passionate about the community he served for over 30 years.  I knew him best as a governor of Cranford Community College and the first chair of Heston West Big Local. His contribution as Chair of HWBL undoubtedly contributed to the great success that Heston West Big Local has become.  He will be missed."

On behalf of Heston West Big Local, we would like to offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends. ​He will be greatly missed by all.

Rajinder Singh Bath’s funeral will take place on Thursday 13th June 2019 from 1.40-2.40pm for prayers at Hibernia Gurdwara, Alice Way, Hounslow, TW3 3UA and the funeral service will take place from 2.40-4pm at Hanworth Crematorium, Hounslow Road, Feltham, TW13 5JH. Refreshments will follow back at Hibernia Gurdwara.

The family request that no flowers be sent, instead please make a donation to the British Heart Foundation or a charity of your choice.
